Spectrum Psychiatry - sun strip.jpg

Integrative psychiatry blends the traditional treatments of medication and psychotherapy with complementary therapies such as nutrition, lifestyle modification, and bodywork. For those who desire a more conservative, patient-centered approach, I use this holistic practice to help you manage your symptoms and enhance overall well-being in a way that feels comfortable, effective, and aligns with your overall health goals.

Medication is one tool among many in mental health care, and the decision to use it is a personal choice that should be made collaboratively. While treatment may involve medication, the focus is on identifying root causes and utilizing supportive therapies to promote wellness. Non-medication approaches can sometimes reduce or eliminate the need for psychotropic drugs. When medication is necessary, combining it with therapy and lifestyle changes often yields the best, sustainable outcomes. Together, we’ll address challenges and develop personalized strategies that truly support your well-being, focusing on what genuinely works for you.

  • Nutrition: There is a scientific connection between your diet, inflammation, and your mental health (not just physical health). The Mediterranean diet is both heart-healthy and a powerful tool for improving mental health.  There is also evidence to support the use of some supplements to treat or prevent mental health symptoms or conditions. An individualized treatment plan of care may include recommendations for supplements.

  • Lifestyle Modification: Improving sleep hygiene, stress management, physical activity, and social connections can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve cognitive functioning and improve general wellbeing.

  • Psychotherapy: Therapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), talk therapy, and other modalities, can support symptom reduction and significantly improve a person's functioning and quality of life, with or without medication.

  • Bodywork: When indicated, therapies like massage, acupuncture, and yoga, may be recommended to promote relaxation and support both mental and physical health.
