Spectrum Psychiatry - sun strip.jpg

It’s completely normal to feel anxious about your first psychiatric appointment, but knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns. This initial evaluation typically lasts 60 minutes, though it may be extended if more time is needed.

Before the appointment, please complete any intake forms provided. This allows me to focus on understanding you more deeply during our time together. In our session, we’ll explore your inner world with respect and compassion, considering the social, environmental, and personal factors that have shaped your experiences and brought you to this point.

We will discuss your current symptoms as well as your hopes and goals for treatment. I’ll gather a comprehensive history, including your past psychiatric, medical, social, and family background, along with any previous treatments or therapies you’ve tried. We’ll work together to understand how your symptoms fit into the context of both your past and present experiences.

Identifying the root cause of your symptoms may take time, and at times it may feel challenging or even unsettling. But I’m here to take the time necessary to really understand your story. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that aligns with your core values and goals.

What Clients Are Saying

I see Dr. Meaza Ejigu for my care and I cannot recommend her enough. When I say she changed my life, it's not an exaggeration. I won't get into too much detail, but I was struggling with severe anxiety and OCD and she listened to me and showed compassion and treated me with so much care and kindness. She didn't make me feel like I was "crazy" or being overdramatic. I refused to seek care for over a decade out of fear that I was overdramatizing or overthinking, and she confirmed that I was not and validated how awful I had been feeling for so long. She began treatment right away to offer relief and she is incredibly brilliant. She knew what she was talking about and what was best, and nailed it the first time! I wasn't having to switch medications or methods until I found the right fit. She also walks you through everything in detail so you know what to expect and diminishes any fear or reservations you may have about certain treatments/medications. She listens to everything you say and takes your opinion and concerns seriously and never has an "I know better than you" attitude, she will take the time to help you understand the care plan. Every time I leave at the end of my appointment I thank her for everything she has done for me and she reminds me of how far I have come/improved. My appointments always end on a positive note, and she is so encouraging, sweet, and motivating. I can't thank her enough for what she has done for my life, my only regret is not seeking treatment sooner!!! If you are like me and afraid I know how you feel, but don't wait any longer and get scheduled. She will take great care of you with absolutely no judgement, you will thank yourself for doing it! Thank you for the amazing care and turning my life around!
